On April 17, Dr. Khaled El Emam presented to the Health Data Research Network (HDRN) about synthetic data generation. Synthetic data generation is an emerging approach for responsibly sharing data. In his presentation, Dr. El Emam reviews the use of generative models to produce synthetic real-world data and clinical trial data, along with studies evaluating the replicability of analyses using synthetic data and the privacy risks of synthetic data will. He also discusses further applications for enabling federated analysis and (selection) bias mitigation.
This presentation was given as part of the HDRN’s monthly Discussion Sessions which provide a supportive platform for HDRN Canada members to share their knowledge, experience and work. The HDRN is a non-profit organization whose mission is to “Bring together people and organizations across Canada for transformative and world-leading health data use”.
