The following tool can be used to encrypt data files. Any file type can be encrypted, and the encrypted file can be exchanged by email (i.e., email clients and servers will not generally block this attachment type). It uses AES 256 bit encryption to protect the data. There is an accompanying tool for decrypting the data which must be made available to the recipient.

The encryption tool only works on Windows machines and requires that the .Net framework (version 3.5+) is installed. You can download this from the Microsoft web site (see the readme file).
